Review Removal Calculator

Calculator

Use this review removal calculator to find your new star rating after getting 1-star reviews removed.

Your star rating is calculated by dividing the total number of star points by the total number of reviews. Each 1-star review contributes only 1 point but still counts as a full review, so removing it both raises your average and reduces the total review count at the same time. The calculator subtracts one point and one review for every 1-star review removed, then recalculates the new average rating.

Because Google rounds displayed ratings (for example, 4.95 showing as 5.0), even a small number of removals can noticeably increase your visible star rating.

The calculator automatically takes this into consideration.

Importance of Star Rating

The Impact of Star Rating in Google Search & AI Models

The impact of star rating can easily be observed in Google Search, Maps, and within AI models where only the “highest-rated” are returned in results. Additionally, findings from the “Local Consumer Review Survey 2026” by BrightLocal show the following:

  • 31% of people only choose businesses with 4.5+ star rating
  • 47% of people won’t use a business with < 20 reviews
  • Consumers expect high star ratings and recent reviews

For example, look at the query, personal injury lawyer phoenix (pictured on the right). Google is only showing law firms with over 350 total reviews, and with a star rating of at least 4.9.
